Rishi Wadhera, MD, MPP, MPhil is the Associate Director of and Section Head of Health Policy at the Smith Center. He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Professor of Health Policy & Management at Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Wadhera’s research leverages real-world data and econometric approaches to evaluate the impact of health policies and reforms on access and affordability, quality of care, and health outcomes. Dr. Wadhera’s work has made influential contributions that have directly informed and shaped national policy. He has been invited to advise policymakers at the US Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Congressional Committees, bridging rigorous research with actionable policymaking. Dr. Wadhera earned his MD from the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and holds an MPhil in Public Health from the University of Cambridge (Gates Cambridge Scholar) and an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School.
