Enrico G Ferro, MD is an attending electrophysiologist (EP) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and a clinical investigator at the Smith Center for Outcomes Research. His research focus is to promote medical innovation in EP, by evaluating the safety and effectiveness of novel EP drugs & devices using a combination of clinical trial, registry and claims-based data – powered by the application of state-of-the-science statistical methods to create rigorous real-world evidence. His work has been funded by the American Heart Association, the Heart Rhythm Society, and the US Food and Drug Administration.
He previously served as a Medical Officer for the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to evaluate dozens of cardiovascular devices across pre-market submission, post-market surveillance and recalls
Clinically, Dr. Ferro attends on the inpatient and outpatient EP services, and performs procedures in the BIDMC EP lab for atrial and ventricular ablation, cardiac implantable electronic devices and left atrial appendage occlusion.
